I got into the social work field because I enjoy understanding people and who they are in the context of their experiences, their environment and their values. I’m driven to create a safe place for those who need it, which has really been the common theme in the roles and populations I have worked with in the field. I’ve worked as a caseworker, therapeutic mentor, in family therapy, in residential as a supervisor and program manager, and as an IYS teaching independent living skills to transition aged youth. Some common themes include supporting clients with transitions, processing and addressing trauma, coping with loss, improving well being through framing and coping skills, and helping manage strong emotions and behaviors. I believe strongly in a relational, strengths based approach and like to tailor my approach to match the needs of my clients.
